The Undiksha team consists of Gede Gery Apriliana Putra from the Chemistry Study Programme, I Putu Raka Nata from the Physics Education Study Programme, Kadek Sri Andriani from the Chemistry Study Programme, Komang Sarini Dewi and Ni Putu Ayu Niya Loviyani from the English Education Study Programme received two awards, namely the gold medal in the environmental category and the MIICA Special Award at the World Youth Invention and Innovation Award (WYIIA event organized by the Indonesian Young Scientists Association (IYSA) in collaboration with Yogyakarta State University.
The work entitled “Recycling Plastic Waste Mixed with Riced Husk Ash and Natural Inorganic Pigments into Environmentally Friendly Decorative Paving Blocks” was guided by Dr. I Dewa Ketut Sastrawidana M.Sc. This innovative work is made from waste plastic waste combined with waste rice husks and Tajun red stone as natural inorganic pigments that are resistant to wear and tear even when rained and the sun shines. According to Gery, the team leader, the advantages of eco paving blocks are not only they have aesthetic value but also have a strong, rapid compressive strength, low water absorption, do not smudge, and are not slippery to provide safety and comfort for users.
